NANS** is a tiny little village situated in Franche Comté (region located in the east of France) and more precisely in the north of Doubs. It is part of the Canton of Rougemont. 90 inhabitants are living there. The name is coming from the gallic term “nantos” which meant “torrent” or “valley”.
NANS** attaches importance to flower arrangements (all through the village) in which the inhabitants are involved. It is awarded by 2 flowers (on 4) at the national flowery villages contest. The brook (named “Le Drigeon”) running through the village is highlighted thanks to all the vegetation planted all along its banks.

NANS** is situated 5km (3 miles) far from Rougemont in the departement “le Doubs”. Surface 320 hectares (790 acres); Height 360 meters (1181 ft).
Visiting NANS... It is a high touristic place in the canton due to its natural and historical site. An old fortress is built directly in the cliff. You may have the chance to visit it, if you’re brave enough to take an ageless way, only known from the inhabitants of NANS. When you come, do not hesitate to ask to the first person you will meet, she will show you the path. But, if you’re not a stuntman, you will discover the bottom of the ruins thanks to an easier access. Beside of that, the three fountains and the arched entrances of some caves indicate that the village was involved in wine : in particular with its famous wine from the hillside. You will also discover a few old architectural elements like mullioned windows from the 16th century or a tower from the 17th and 18th century.
